Latest Bitcoin Acquisition Expands Treasury Position
According to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, the acquisition took place during the week ending August 10, 2025. The newly acquired Bitcoin adds to Strategy’s already substantial position, bringing total holdings to 628,946 BTC. At current prices near $121,000, the portfolio is valued at around $75 billion.
The purchase follows the same accumulation pattern the firm has maintained since entering the Bitcoin market on August 11, 2020. The initial investment consisted of 21,454 BTC bought for $250 million when Bitcoin traded at approximately $11,400. Over five years, the company has executed 74 purchases without selling a single coin.
Co-founder Michael Saylor marked the milestone on X, stating, “If you don’t stop buying Bitcoin, you won’t stop making money.” His remarks underscored the consistent buying approach that has defined Strategy’s treasury management.
Five Years of Consistent Bitcoin Accumulation
Since adopting Bitcoin as its primary treasury asset, Strategy has invested a total of $46.09 billion into the cryptocurrency. With the market value of its holdings near $75 billion, the firm has achieved an unrealized gain of approximately $29 billion. Year-to-date, the position has delivered a 25 percent return.
The recent purchase was financed by selling 115,169 shares under its at-the-market program. This leaves more than $47 billion in capacity for future issuances dedicated to Bitcoin accumulation. Such funding methods have allowed the firm to expand its position without reducing existing Bitcoin holdings.
The company’s current stash represents around 3% of the total Bitcoin supply that will ever exist. This level of ownership further cements its position as the largest corporate holder of the digital asset.
Corporate Bitcoin Holdings Continue to Grow
Strategy’s success has influenced a growing number of corporations to adopt similar treasury strategies. Data shows that the top 100 public companies now collectively hold 964,314 BTC, much of it purchased through capital raises following the Strategy model.
According to a post from Bitcoin Archive on X, Bitcoin treasury companies collectively hold 1.85 million BTC, currently valued at about $219 billion. The accumulation trend has been described as contributing to tightening market supply.
As other companies increase their exposure, Strategy’s five-year record of continuous accumulation serves as one of the longest-running examples of corporate Bitcoin adoption. The consistent purchasing policy has aligned with rising market valuations, reinforcing the company’s position at the forefront of institutional Bitcoin ownership.
